Our Mission
At Midgley Meadows Rescue & Sanctuary, we believe that no rabbit is too broken, and no background is too difficult to overcome. Our family-run sanctuary is entirely dedicated to protecting and rehabilitating neglected, elderly, or vulnerable rabbits. We are committed to providing a safe, loving environment for all bunnies in our care—whether we are finding them their perfect lifelong family or giving them a forever home inside our sanctuary.
The Elvis Effect
Midgley Meadows was founded in 2021 in memory of my very first rabbit, Elvis. Before he came into my life, I didn't fully realise just how complex, intelligent, and deeply affectionate these beautiful animals truly are. Elvis blew away every stereotype about what it means to care for a rabbit, showing me firsthand how easily they can be misunderstood by the world.
He didn’t just capture my heart; he gave me a lifelong purpose. Losing him left a massive, rabbit-sized hole in our family, but it also lit a spark. I knew that the best way to honour his legacy was to ensure that other vulnerable, neglected, or elderly bunnies received the exact same level of unconditional love, patience, and high-quality care that Elvis enjoyed every single day.
Today, I truly believe Elvis is still guiding our sanctuary. Every time a broken, anxious, or unwell rabbit arrives at our gates, we treat them as Elvis would want us to—with open arms and a promise of a safe, happy second chance.
